What to look for

Signs you need this work done

Blocked or failing gutters are behind a surprising number of the problems we get called out to: water running behind the fascia, damp getting into eaves, and pooling around the footings. It's also some of the cheapest maintenance you can do on a house, particularly before storm season.

  • Gutters overflowing in heavy rain

    Usually leaf build-up, though it can also mean the gutters are undersized or falling the wrong way for the roof area they serve.

  • Gutters sagging or pulling away from the fascia

    Failed brackets or rotting fascia timber. Once there's a gap, water runs straight down behind the gutter and into the eaves.

  • Rust patches, splits or visible holes

    Older steel guttering rusts from the inside out, often where debris has been sitting damp for years.

  • Water pooling next to the house after rain

    A sign that gutters and downpipes aren't carrying water away properly. Left alone it can affect footings and get damp into the walls.
